When Kangana Ranaut announced her production, Tiku Weds Sheru, with Nawazuddin Siddiqui and newcomer Avneet Kaur in the lead, hopes were high – not only because the casting of Siddiqui promised certain quality but also because Kaur brought along both freshness and relatability owing to her TV roles as a child actor. The actors do justice to their roles in the movie, directed by Sai Kabir – Siddiqui shines as a romantic hero and Kaur excels in her debut role and displays a maturity much beyond her age.
Tiku Weds Sheru could have been a Madhur Bhandarkar film if the writers were smart enough to see the latent potential in its lead characters. A story about two Bollywood aspirants wanting to see themselves on the big screen, Tiku (Avneet Kaur) and Sheru (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) are struggling in their respective lives trying to make it to ‘filmy nagariya’. The backdrop is the dark underbelly of showbiz and an insight into the lives of the peripheral characters (extras) who are fillers in a scene.
Prime Video today announced the global premiere of its comedy drama ‘Tiku Weds Sheru’. Directed by Sai Kabir Srivastva, the movie features a never-before-seen jodi of prolific actor Nawazuddin Siddiqui and rising star Avneet Kaur in lead roles. Produced by Kangana Ranaut’s Manikarnika Films, this is a quirky story of love and passion fuelled by the eccentricity of Tiku and Sheru, a couple with contrasting personalities, who stand the test of time in pursuit of their dreams.
