Chandigarh: Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Amrinder
Chandigarh: Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Amrinder Singh Raja Warring on Wednesday criticised the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) govt for what he described as the “continued harassment” of leader of opposition Partap Singh Bajwa.
Warring stated that another summon was issued to Bajwa after previous notices on April 13 and 23, and May 3. “This occurred despite his full cooperation with the investigation, including over 12 hours of questioning across two appearances,” he said.
Warring said the action was part of a “desperate witch-hunt” designed to suppress dissent. “The AAP govt isn’t just targeting a leader, it’s undermining a constitutional office. This is not law enforcement, it is political bullying by using Punjab Police as a tool,” said Warring.
He noted that the latest summons came on a day when Punjab Police seized two rocket-propelled grenades (RPGs) and five hand grenades in Nawanshahr, further vindicating Bajwa’s earlier warnings about security threats to the state. Since April 13, a total of eight grenades have been seized, underscoring the gravity of the situation, he added. “Instead of strengthening security, Mann govt is shooting the messenger. Bajwa’s warnings were proven right, yet he is the one being hunted down,” Warring stated
Warning Pakistan against trying to escalate the conflict, former Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh also condemned its attack which resulted in several deaths in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch.
